Parent Like It Matters

Parent Like It Matters was founded in 2022 by Lauren Butler, MSW, LCSW after spending time in various private practice settings. She found her passion for working with children and realized that there is a huge need for exclusive pediatric mental health care in the Wilmington, NC community. She chose the name Parent Like It Matters because of its meaning to the practice. Whether it is a parent/guardian bringing a child to therapy, reaching out for postpartum support, asking for parenting help, or joining a support group, there is an intentional choice to parent like it matters {because it really does!}. 

 As a team, it is not lost on us how difficult it can feel to trust someone you just met with your child's mental health and the most intimate pieces of your parenting journey. We strive to always remember that and work hard to help your child become the best possible version of themselves all while having a little fun along the way!

 Parent Like It Matters believes taking care of the entire family system is the path to true healing & wholeness for the child and often the parents/caregivers in return. We utilize a range of different session types such as individual, family, play therapy, parenting and sometimes support groups in order to provide the best possible outcome for each client we see.
