About

At Carolina Terrain, we believe your property isn’t just a yard—it’s an asset that requires precise management. Based in Waxhaw, we are a licensed North Carolina Drainage and Stormwater contractor (NC CL.1872) specializing in solving the "Red Clay Crisis."

North Carolina receives nearly 50 inches of rain annually, yet our native Piedmont clay often absorbs less than 0.10 inches per hour. This "Infiltration Gap" turns backyards into swamps and threatens home foundations. We don’t just "dig holes and guess"; we use Piedmont Math and civil engineering principles to design systems that protect your equity.

Our Core Specialties:

  • Engineered Drainage: Custom-designed catch basins, French drains, and downspout diversions using N-12 industrial standards.

  • Stormwater Compliance: Inspection, maintenance, and audit-ready reporting for HOAs and commercial assets.

  • Grading & Erosion Control: Structural remediation to stop soil loss and stabilize slopes.

  • Verification-First Documentation: Every project includes "as-built" records and site media, ensuring you have a permanent digital history of your infrastructure.

Whether you are a homeowner protecting your foundation or a property manager overseeing an HOA, Carolina Terrain provides the "Elite Standard" of water management in the Carolinas.

About Me

Alex Purdy – Founder & Systems Architect

I am an entrepreneur and systems designer dedicated to bringing transparency and accountability to the infrastructure world. A graduate of Appalachian State University’s Entrepreneurship program, my background spans from managing high-stakes healthcare data to operating field-level construction.

My mission with Carolina Terrain and the broader Terrain Ecosystem is to bridge the gap between "ground truth" field work and digital intelligence. I believe that infrastructure should be verifiable and auditable. When I’m not in the field or building the next iteration of our "Terrain Vision" AI, I’m likely rucking the trails of Waxhaw or studying the intersection of behavioral architecture and business efficiency.

I live and work in North Carolina because I believe in the resilience of this region. My goal is to ensure that as our communities grow, our land and infrastructure are engineered to last for generations.
